We will kick off the centenary seminar series of the Physics department on the 11th February with Dr. Manish Kumar Mohanta, a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Virginia Commonwealth University, USA. Dr. Mohanta is a computational materials scientist who aims to unveil the mysteries of quantum materials using state-of-the-art Density Functional Theory. Venue/time/data: The seminar will take place at the Raman Hall (Room # 534 in the new Academic complex) from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM on February 11th, 2025. Title: Anomalous spin texture representation in quantum materials: Insights from density functional theory and analytical models

The 2nd talk of the centenary seminar series of our department will be delivered by Dr. Sudipta Pattanayak, a postdoctoral researcher of the Physics unit at Institut Curie, Université Paris Sciences et Lettres, France, and Collège de France, Université Paris Sciences et Lettres, France, on the 13th. Dr. Pattanayak works in the area of Active Matter (AM), which is a new, fast-growing interdisciplinary field at the interface between biology and statistical physics that aims to understand ensembles of active particles. The talk title, abstract, and biodata of the speaker are given below the venue information. Venue/time/data: The seminar will take place at the Raman Hall (Room # 534 in the new Academic complex) from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM on February 13th, 2025.
