About Me: I have been serving as an Assistant Professor of Mining Engineering at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad since August 22, 2024. I completed my Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph.D. degrees in Mining Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi. In 2011, I secured an All India Rank of 5898 in the IIT JEE examination and was selected for the Department of Mining Engineering at IIT(BHU) Varanasi. During my B.Tech., I achieved a CGPA of 8.08 (on an absolute scale) and was twice awarded the Arvind Akruwala Memorial Award for outstanding academic record in the department.
In my M.Tech. program, I topped my batch with a CGPA of 9.92. My thesis, titled "Study of Strata Behavior in a Contiguous Seam Depillaring Working," involved field instrumentation, laboratory testing, and numerical modeling. I presented and published my research findings at several conferences and was honored with the Navakriti Medal for the best research work across all branches at the institute level.
For my Ph.D., I worked on "Design of PWBP Against Large Water Head in Underground Coal Mines." This project provided me with the opportunity to draft an R&D proposal, which successfully secured funding from Coal India Ltd. Through this research, I gained expertise in writing industry-sponsored research proposals, obtaining endorsements, presenting before funding agencies, conducting field instrumentation, technical report writing, hydro-mechanical coupled numerical modeling, and project management.
To date, I have published one patent and seven research papers, with several more in progress. My Ph.D. thesis was nominated for the ROCHA Medal by ISRM (India), and a paper I published in the Institution of Engineers (India) was awarded with the Institution Prizes for Best Publication. I have also worked on various R&D projects sponsored by Coal India Limited in roles such as Postdoctoral Fellow, Research Associate, Senior Research Fellow, and Senior Project Fellow.
I am an Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers (India) and a Life Member of MGMI. My research and consultancy work primarily focus on numerical modeling in geomechanics, subsidence prediction and management, rock reinforcement, rock instrumentation, and rock blasting.
I strongly believe that engineering and technology must continually evolve to ensure that the world’s growing population can survive with comfort, security, excitement, enthusiasm, and dignity—while maintaining an eco-friendly balance. With this vision, I am committed to addressing societal needs through need-based research, academic courses, and technological solutions in the field of Mining Engineering.
