The IIT (ISM) Dhanbad perpetually endeavors to ensure a very cordial and conducive atmosphere in the Institute where all the segments of Faculty/Officers/Staff members (including contractual/ casual/ temporary etc.) can discharge their duties without any sorts of discriminations concerning caste/creed/race/region/religion/sex or place of birth; and also without any forms and manifestations of discriminations of any other kinds. This Institute has Liaison Officer for SC/ST, and also an Equal Opportunity Cell in place with a view to implement the Government’s reservation schemes/ various other welfare schemes in the Institute in true letter and spirit.

Terms and Reference of the Advisory Committee
- To act as an inquiry authority on individual complaints pertaining to discriminations and related allegations arising at the Institute regarding SC/ST category.
- To ensure that victims and witnesses are not victimized or discriminated owing to their complaints/allegations.
- The Committee shall schedule and conduct meeting as per their convenience.
- The Committee shall submit its report containing findings and recommendations to the Director in a confidential cover.
- The Committee should meet twice a year to review the positions and to solve the problems relating to the SC/ST employees.
- The tenure of this Committee will continue until further orders.
