About Me: Dr. Bhaskara Behera is working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mining Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad, since October 2023. Dr. Behera graduated from the National Institute of Technology Rourkela and received his Ph.D. degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University) Varanasi with Rock Mechanics & Ground Control and Mine Planning & Design as a specialization. He served as a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and contributed to designing the tunnels under blast loading conditions. He has nearly three years of teaching and research experience in Rock Mechanics and Ground Control, Mining Methods, Mine Planning & Design, and Numerical Modeling Applications in Geotechnical Engineering. He has published 20 research articles in various International/National journals and conferences. Presently, he is actively involved in four industry-sponsored consultancy projects as CI and Co-CI for the design of supports, prediction of surface subsidence, and optimal design of open pit slopes for different coal mining operations.
