About Me: My research contributions primarily fall under the empirical research in the fields of Occupational hazards in mines & safety analytics, health & engineering ergonomics in mines, and Rock Engineering. A few of the contributions are mentioned hereunder based on the publications, theses supervised, and research projects executed. From the research conducted so far on ‘Occupational hazards in mines & safety analytics’, the contributions made so far are: (i) development of behavioural and sociotechnical model for industrial safety management, (ii) development of accident path model based on the non-compliance of mines act, rules, regulations and by-laws, (iii) accident investigation methodologies based on Root Cause Analysis (RCA); This methodology has been accepted and notified by MoC, GOI (Order No. I/29444/2022 dt. May 10, 2022) to follow all coal companies to carry out Accident Investigation [https://coal.gov.in/sites/default/files/2022-05/12-05-2022sfty.pdf], (iv) development of risk perception model for risk evaluation and control of mine workplace, (v) evaluation of interactions during accident occurrences, (vi) estimation of coal spontaneous combustion propensity using a Fuzzy-Delphi-geometric mean analytic hierarchy process, (vii) development of Spontaneous Combustion Potential (SCP) Classification' which quantifies the relationship between the TRP and the coal’s tendency to undergo spontaneous combustion. The research was done targeting to replace the Rule-of-Thumb 'Incubation period' while designing the panel/district for bord & pillar method, (viii) development of a wireless real-time IOT based gas monitoring and communication system for the safety of underground coal mine workers. In ‘occupational health & engineering ergonomics in mines’, the contributions made so far are: (i) development of ergo-human model to evaluate the functional capacity of coal mine workers, (ii) Determination of Aerobic Energy Reserve Left after Working Shift and its Influence on Work Fatigue of Different Categories of Mine Workers, (iii) Health risk Perception among HEMM Operators Using Hybrid SEM-ANN Model. From ‘rock engineering’ point of view the contributions made so far are: (i) evaluation of failure characteristics of inclined coal pillars by analytical and numerical simulation approached, (ii), analysis of 3D stress distribution over inclined coal pillars by tensorial statistics approach, (iii) development of strength formulae of inclined coal pillars by analytical and numerical simulation approaches, (iv) design of development methodology of inclined coal seams along apparent dip direction, (v) analysis of post failure characteristics of coal pillars and local mine stiffness for bump proneness (vi) development of formula to assess bump potential probability of a coal seam, (vii) Establishment of empirical equations to provide adequate free face with effective parallel-hole cut designs w.r.t. confinement factor of development headings for enhancing the progress rate of underground drivages, and (viii) Development of empirical relationships between void ratio, drill length & delay time for optimising the blasting performance of long raising in a single-shot.

Research Interest: My present research interests include Occupational hazards in mines & safety analytics, health & engineering ergonomics in mines, Applied Multivariate Modeling and ML Techniques, Rock Engineering, virtual reality-based accident modeling & simulation, and virtual reality based work system design modeling and simulation.
