About Me: Dr Madhumita Patel joined recently the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Dhanbad as an assistant professor. She holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta, Canada. She is having a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and an undergraduate also in chemical engineering from IGIT, Sarang, Odisha. She has received numerous awards for her research to include the Best PhD Thesis Award in the field of bioenergy research at the Canadian Society of Bioengineering (CSBE) conference, Vancouver, 2019. Her major area of research are municipal waste management, pyrolysis of waste to energy, development of process model, techno-economic and life cycle assessment, coprocessing of biofuel with refinery, thermochemical conversion methods. Her recent work on the conversion of plastic wastes to energy is funded by the IIT Dhanbad. The main goal of her research is to convert waste to valuable products not only with low carbon footprints but also at low production costs. Dr Patel has published her work in reputed high impact factor journals and the form of technical reports and book chapters to respective industries.
