About Me: Dr. Manish Kumar Jain is a Professor in the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, specializing in mine environment studies. With a Ph.D. in Mining Engineering from IIT Kharagpur, he has over two decades of experience in teaching, research, and consultancy. His research focuses on air and water quality assessment, mine waste management, and environmental impact studies in mining regions. He has guided numerous Ph.D. and M.Tech students and has led several government and industry-funded projects. Dr Jain has an extensive publication record, with over 50 research papers in high-impact international journals indexed in SCI and Scopus, covering topics such as heavy metal contamination, air pollution monitoring & modelling, fly ash utilization, environmental sustainability in mining, and remote sensing and GIS. Dr. Manish Kumar Jain has been recognized for his outstanding contributions to environmental science and mining research through several prestigious awards and honors. He was awarded the Prof. (Dr.) H.R. Anireddy Award for Mining Engineering Research (2018) for his significant work in environmental sustainability in mining. He has been appointed as an expert member by various government bodies, including the National Green Tribunal (NGT), the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEFCC), and the High Court of Jharkhand, for addressing critical environmental and air pollution issues. Additionally, he has served as an expert auditor for ICFRE, Dehradun, contributing to the development of the Environmental Performance Rating Index for Indian coal mines. His expertise is widely acknowledged, making him a key figure in policy advisory and environmental impact assessments at both national and international levels.
