About Me: Our research focuses on unraveling Earth's unresolved tectonic mysteries using seismological tools. To achieve this, we deploy seismographs in key regions to gather earthquake data over several years. These datasets are then analyzed using both conventional and advanced modeling and inversion techniques grounded in statistical methods. Recently, our team has been exploring optimal seismic models by integrating complementary datasets extracted from different time windows of seismograms. We are applying these methodologies to study the tectonic characteristics of northeastern India and the Chhotanagpur Plateau. Additionally, we are a dedicated research group conducting seismic microzonation studies to assess earthquake hazard parameters at specific sites. By utilizing continuous waveform data, we characterize surficial soil layers down to the basement rock, enabling us to evaluate risks associated with both primary and secondary earthquake effects.

NPTEL course

Developed a 30-hours NPTEL/SWAYAM course focusing on "Earthquake Seismology." Around 1173 students were taught this course during July 2023 session. The course became popular and it was offered again to the students of years 2024 and 2025.

GIAN courses

1. The GIAN course on "Engineering Seismology" is sanctioned and approved by the Ministry of Education and will be offered in August 2025.

2. Taught a two-week GIAN course (May 09-18, 2022) along with Prof. Derek Schutt (Colorado State University) on “Earthquake Seismology” approved and sanctioned by MHRD with a total cost of Rs. 8.52 Lakhs.
