About Me: Dr. Mukul K. Das is a semiconductor device engineer with over 20 years of experience, having worked extensively at leading institutions in Europe and India. His expertise lies in semiconductor device modeling and design for VLSI, optoelectronic applications, as well as in the fabrication of interface and bandgap-engineered thin-film transistor and photovoltaic devices. In recent years, his research has focused on designing integrated modules for photonic QKD transmitters and receivers. Throughout his career, Dr. Das has successfully led and contributed to numerous projects while serving as Assistant Professor and later Associate Professor at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. Dr. Das played a pivotal role in establishing a centre for research and training, “Centre of Excellence in Renewable Energy” at IIT (ISM), Dhanbad as Coordinator of a high value multi-disciplinary project under FAST Scheme funded by the Ministry of Education (MHRD erstwhile), Govt. of India and he has been serving as head of the centre since its establishment. Dr. Das earned his B.Tech. and M.Tech. degrees in Radio Physics and Electronics from the University of Calcutta in 1998 and 2000, respectively. He later completed his Ph.D. (Tech.) at the Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics, University of Calcutta, in 2008 as a faculty fellow. Additionally, he gained international research experience as an Internship Research Fellow at École Polytechnique, France, from June to August 2008. He joined IIT (ISM) Dhanbad in September 2008 as an Assistant Professor and currently serves as a Professor in the Department of Electronics Engineering. Before that Dr. Das held faculty positions at various engineering colleges in West Bengal, India between 2000 and 2004. Dr. Das has mentored 13 Ph.D. scholars and has published over 40 research papers in high-impact SCI-indexed international journals, including Applied Physics Letters (APL), IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, and IEEE Transactions on Nanotechnology. His contributions to the field have earned him several accolades, including the Young Scientist Award at the URSI GA 2008 in Chicago, USA. He was also a recipient of the National Scholarship for B.Sc. (Hons.) and was recognized by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers for qualifying both Part A and Part B of the National Graduate Physics Examination (NGPE) in 1995. He was selected for Leverhulme Fellowship, U.K. in 2008. In 2010, he was elevated to Senior Member of IEEE.
