About Me: Dr. Rajib Sarkar is currently Associate Professor at the Civil Engineering Department of Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad. Dr. Sarkar joined as Assistant Professor at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad in 2016. Prior to this, he has worked in MNIT Jaipur, India for about three years. Dr. Sarkar did his Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Civil Engineering from Jalpaiguri Govt. Engg. College (University of North Bengal) in 2002. He did M.Tech and Ph.D. from the Department of Earthquake Engineering of Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee in the years 2006 and 2009 respectively. He has also worked in Consulting Engineering Services (I) Pvt. Ltd. during 2002-2004 and Lahmeyer International India Pvt. Ltd. during 2009-2012. Dr. Sarkar has been actively involved in teaching, research and consulting for more than 10 years. He has authored 54 refereed journal publications and 31 conference/symposium publications along with 13 book chapters. He is recipient of Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (U.K.) fellowship for post-doctoral research in University of Bristol, U.K. He is presently working on several research projects sponsored by Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Coal India Limited (CIL), National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) etc. He has completed several consultancy projects of national importance. He is recipient of several awards such as “Young Engineers Award” from Institution of Engineers, India (IEI) in 2015; “Best Ph.D. Thesis Award in SSI” from Indian Society of Earthquake Technology (ISET) in 2014.
