About Me: Prof. (Dr.) Rabindra Kumar Sinha, graduated in Mining Engineering in 1997 from the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, India. In 1997 he joined the Associated Cement Cos. Ltd. and worked as an Asstt. Manager till 2003. Thereafter he joined the National Institute of Rock Mechanics as a Scientist and worked there till 2014. He obtained a PhD Degree in Mining Engineering from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad in 2013 while working with NIRM. At NIRM, he was actively involved in in situ investigations in hydroelectric, mining and other mega civil engineering projects in India as well as abroad. He joined the Indian School of Mines as an Assistant Professor in 2014 and is now continuing to serve there as an Associate Professor. He specialises in using numerical modelling to investigate the influence of different in situ parameters and stress for design of large underground structures.

Research Interest: In situ Investigations in Rock Mechanics; Design of underground structures in rock; Applied Rock Mechanics and Numerical Modeling
