About Me: Prof. Sandipan Kumar Das joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT(ISM) Dhanbad as a Professor in 2021. He is a general fluid dynamicist specializing in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). With decades of extensive global industry experience, particularly in the United States, Prof. Das brings a wealth of knowledge to the institution. Throughout his career, he has delivered innovative solutions to complex multi-physics fluid dynamics problems across a diverse range of industries, including oil and gas, power, automotive, HVAC, chemical, environmental, and aerospace. His expertise lies in the development and application of both numerical and theoretical tools to address these challenges. His current research focuses on developing advanced theoretical and computational models for various physical phenomena, with a special emphasis on green energy solutions. Prof. Das earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University, USA, and has held prominent positions in major multinational corporations, including ExxonMobil Research and Engineering, as well as renowned CFD firms like ANSYS.
