About Me: Early life and education I'm Saravanan(Tamil: சரவணன், One of the most popular name of Lord Murugan)born 11 March 1977 as third and last child to my parent (Pichiah-Vimala) and hail from Tiruchirappalli ( Uraiyoor,( உறையூர்) capital city of early Cholas) Tamilnadu, INDIA. Had school education at various schools across the state, attended Adhiyamaan College of Engineering, University of Madras from where I earned Bachelors of Technology in Chemical Engineering.I then took my Post Graduate Diploma in Biomedical and Master's degree in Environmental Engineering from Coimbatore Institute of Technology(Autonomous), Coimbatore and Vellore Institute of Technology University , Vellore respectively. Then went to study Doctorate in Chemical Engineering under the supervision of Prof.Dr. Prabirkumar Saha and Prof.Dr. K. Pakshirajanat Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. Academic career(2008-2010) In June 2008, immediately after submitting dissertation, joined Department of Chemical Engineering & Materials Science, Amrita University, as senior lecturer, then moved to Department of Chemical Engineering, National Institute of Technology located in my hometown as Assistant Professor during November 2008. There after had brief (September-december 2009)stay in the Department of Chemical Technology, Politechnika Gdańska, Poland as Assistant Professor (Tenure Track). Academic career at University of Malaya(2010-2016) Finally, moved to Malaysia in February 2010 as Senior Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Malaya,(Ranked 87 among the world universities) Kuala lumpur, Malaysia. I had a great time at University of Malaya where I founded my own research laboratory on “Environmental Nanomaterials”and graduated notable off springs and the country eventually became my 2nd home town. I was also an active Associate Member of Nanotechnology & Catalysis Research Centre (NANOCAT) a High Core Center Identified by the Ministry of Education Malaysia. During my stay I was rigorously involved in expanding my research establishment through projects, collaboration with colleague and other premier laboratories in the field of "Light Driven Nanomaterials". The University of Malaya provided me a platform for achieving greatest milestones. Academic career at IIT(ISM )(2016- Till date) In September 2016, moved back to India and Joined the Department of Environmental Science & Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad, Jharkhand, as Associate Professor. After assigning position, received DST-SERB-Early Career Award and was conferred as Chartered Chemist (CChem) by the prestigious Royal Society of Chemistry(RSC), UK in 2018. Was elected as a Member Institute of Engineer (MIE) in November 2018 and subsequently conferred as Chartered Engineer(CEng(India)). In 2021 was conferred as a Fellow RSC. In July 2024 elevated as Professor.
