About Me: My research specialization lies in the field of Mechanics of Solids, more specifically the aspects of wave propagation. I have studied the Torsional surface wave propagation and devoted my career to advance the knowledge of the different earth models pertinent to the propagation of various elastic waves. The particles of a medium experience a twisted motion while transmitting the Torsional waves, one which cannot be recorded in our existing seismographs as they only record vertical and horizontal motions. In fact, it has been a long-standing challenge to construct seismographs that are proficient in recording twisted motions. The study of Torsional surface waves in seismic zones by observational seismologists can be possible only after the revelation of such seismographs. On my part, I have analyzed the effect of different interfacial boundary configurations on the surface waves in diverse earth media (e.g. piezoelectric, thermoelastic, viscoelastic, fluid-saturated porous, magnetoelastic, micropolar, fiber-reinforced, vertically inhomogeneous etc.). I have also investigated several problems involving the reflection and refraction phenomena. With respect to these particular problems, I have coherently demonstrated the interplay of numerous parameters on phase velocities and wave numbers of surface waves. The entire study has therefore been centered on and around the seismic interpretations, with my research providing certain invaluable insights to the subject and to the larger fields of earth sciences and modern-day technology. I have used different theoretical frameworks to conduct a rigorous mathematical study. Particularly, my contribution towards Torsional surface wave propagation can also help to open up a new arena for observational seismologists to efficiently develop or improve the existing seismographs to record twisted waves. My monumental dedication and reflective efforts have resulted in a colossal list of over 180 publications in internationally acclaimed journals in the fields of mathematical modeling on various aspects of seismic wave propagation. Since last 33 years, I have been actively engaged in research activities. I have supervised 17 PhD students so far, in addition to regular engagement in teaching UG and PG students of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. I have also authored two popular books on the subject of Complex Variables and Numerical Methods, both published by McGraw Hill Education Pvt. LTD. Additionally, 3 major research projects from DST & CSIR, Govt. of India have been undertaken under my principal investigation.

Research Interest: Theoretical Seismology, Mechanics Of Solids, Numerical Methods, ODE And PDE.
